WATCH: Designing the Gallery Penthouse With Eddie Abeyta

The Gallery Penthouse library

In this exclusive walk-through, Eddie Abeyta—Founder of Abeyta Architecture Studio—shares the architectural vision behind the Gallery Penthouse at HALL Arts Residences. Eddie takes viewers inside the design process, explaining how the penthouse was intentionally crafted to create seamless connections between spaces, materials, light, and movement. From gallery-style walls and fluid transitions to an emphasis on openness and livability, every design decision was made to support both elevated living and meaningful everyday use.

This conversation offers a rare look at how thoughtful architecture shapes the experience of home—where art, function, and form come together effortlessly.

A SENSE OF ARRIVAL

One of the unique qualities about this private residence is the sense of arrival, Abeyta explains. As you come off the elevator, you’re immediately immersed within the center of the home with an immediate connection to both natural light and view. It’s a deliberate design choice that sets the tone for everything that follows.

CELEBRATING CONNECTION

Throughout the design process, Abeyta kept the actual resident at the forefront of every decision. The architecture needed to do more than impress—it needed to evoke personality and presence while supporting the rhythms of daily life. The result is a careful balance between bold architectural statements and quiet, intimate spaces that invite you to truly live in them. Human scale was considered in every detail, ensuring the residence feels both grand and approachable, functional yet always refined.

WHERE ARCHITECTURE BECOMES EXPERIENCE

Working with Dallas-based Allgood/Pfannenstiel General Contractors, Abeyta brought his vision to life through meticulous craftsmanship. Direct elevator access opens into the private home. Gallery-style walls and columns create texture and depth. Twelve-foot pocket doors disappear into walls, allowing spaces to transform and flow. The living room features 14-foot ceilings and a monumental fireplace, while the kitchen showcases Gaggenau appliances and bulthaup cabinetry.

A CREATIVE PARTNERSHIP

The Gallery Penthouse represents a collaboration between Abeyta Architecture Studio, Allgood/Pfannenstiel General Contractors, and New York-based Neal Thomas Enterprises, who curated furnishings that complement the architectural vision. Together, they stayed true to the original concept, ensuring every detail was carefully crafted and executed.
